Manic Street Preachers

A band from the 90's that I've been listening to lately.  They are in that britpop vein.  Very melodic...sometimes mix up the sounds with sugary pop and disco.

Check out IMDB

Look me up on IMDB because it has an update of the film that I will begin editing in a week or so.

Trip to Grandma's Birthday Jubilee

I didn't write stories of superheroes or villians but I did save a little boy from cracking his head against the ground. Plus, I took these photos (except for the one I am in).

Road Trip

As a few of you know I went on a road trip with my friends David and William. They are attempting to get on the Amazing Race as contestants. Here are a couple photos I took from the trip.

Boot Camp - Week One over

If you think I look huge and tone in this photo (stolen from another blog), just wait until you see me later. Kelli and I have been doing a boot camp workout session at 5:15 am. Around 35 minutes of intense treadmill and 25 minutes of other stuff (each day changes though). We have been walking with sore muscles all week. Honestly, if I didn't get a wakeup call from Kelli at 4:45, I don't think I could get up. Initially, I agreed to do this to support Kelli in her effort to lose some weight but I'm happy that I'm doing this thing.

Goodell Wedding

On July 4th, Jon got married to Crystal. It was a backyard swimming pool party wedding. The temp was 115 degrees.

Kelli talks to her squirrel

Kelli talks to the animals. She has a squirrel friend outside her work that comes and eats nuts from her hand. It's incredible.

7 months later I post

I learned a very cool technique to clean your stinky, smelly and, yes, slimy
garbage disposal. Just fill it up with ice cubes, run some cold water and
flip the switch. Hear the ice cubes shatter, see gunk fill the air, and
smell the stink drift away...

Hawaii...here I come

I'm off to Hawaii for the U2 concert with Pearl Jam. Paul and I leave at 6am from LAX. It should be a fun weekend. I'll have photos and such when I'm back...

Out.

Job Update

Alright. I got a job offer today...and I took it. I will be editing on an NBC game show called Identity. It is paying very well but I have to work at nights. It's a shorter gig than normal but it will bring me through to Christmas.

Casino Royale

Going to Casino Royale tonight. I'm pretty excited about this one. I've heard good things but I'll let you know.

I'm trying to decide on a job. I can work on a Dennis Rodman makeover show for HDnet or hold off until January for a MTV dating show (or a potentially better gig). I'm actually not sure what to do because the Rodman show starts in a week but doesn't pay as well. Oh well, I'll figure it out.

Mucho Updato

Okay. The past week has been crazy. But, first off, the Boingo show was really fun, if not a little too short. The Greek Theater has to stop at 11pm because of the surrounding homes. The Boingo songs sounded really good but they also sang some Halloween themed songs which we disappointing because I wanted Boingo...Oingo. The opening bands were X and Dramarama. X sounded good but we missed Dramarama because we were at a birthday jubilee.

Last Saturday, Kelli's father, Marc, got married to a really sweet lady, Jacquie. It was a small gathering at the Ritz in Marina del Rey. On the way, we were very stressed because there was so much traffic for a Saturday afternoon. We running late and almost ran out of gas. We were thinking that we'd get locked out of the wedding. But it worked out.

The following morning I had a production meeting for a film trailer that I will be editing at night this week. The trailer was shot to try to get some cash out of the pockets of potential investors.

Later on, we went to The Prestige...which I highly recommend. Highly. Go see The Queen as well. Matt!

This Saturday was crazy. On Friday we got our halloween costumes and on Saturday we went out to a sushi restaurant with a friend. Then we were going to meet up with her husband at a local dive bar called the Green Frog and hopefully hang with other fools dressed up in ridiculous outfits...just wait til you see mine (photos to come). So, as we walked to the bar, I noticed my former roommates' car parked outside. I thought it was cool that he was there. Well, I walk in and he and a bunch of my other friends were there to wish me a happy birthday. Kelli had thrown me a surprise party. I hadn't a clue.

Meanwhile, yesterday I started working on The Megan Mullally Show. I am working for one week to fill in for a friend of mine, Ignacio, while he attends to his newborn child. Speaking of, those of you who know Troy and Heather Malmin will be happy to know that they had their first child.

Peter Bjorn and John

A song called Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John. Not 3 people, apparently!

Boing Boom Chuck....Ping!

Kelli and I are going to Oingo Boingo tonight at the Greek Theater. It's not really Oingo Boingo since Danny Elfman will not be performing but we got the tickets for free. It should be fun anyway.

My friend, Mitch, is in town for a screenwriting seminar and he is staying with me. Last night Mitch, Kelli and I watched an English film called Kinky Boots. It was at Sundance when I went this last January. It's about a drag queen who helps convert a "Loafer making shoe factory" into a "Kinky Boots making factory." If you like the vibe of small English films you might like it.

To Blog or not To Blog

I begin my blogging as if I have been doing it for years...as if I was a pioneer.

Now, in my second week of unemployment, I am enjoying the simple things in life: the chirping of a bird in the afternoon (not the morning); the swishing of a fish tail hitting the rocks on the bottom of my somewhat recently purchased fish bowl; the plucking of the four available strings on my six string Martin acoustic guitar; and the hosting of a MURDER (!!!) with Kelli.

Recent Films: The Queen*, The Departed, Employee of the Month, The Proposition*, In the Bedroom*

Recent Music: The Cure re-issues, Radio Birdman, Devo (there's so much more than Whip It), Gary Numan

Recent other stuff: Lost

Netflix: I will be renting Fantasy Island season 1 for nostalgic purposes. I have a feeling it is bad...but I need proof.
